Sixteen young black men from Omaha fought together in World War II. They called them the Sweet 16. All of them came home.
My grandfather was one of the last two.
Richard Headley is the last living member of the Sweet 16.
My grandfather was a Quartermaster in the 530th Battalion.He participated in 4 major campaigns, including the invasion of France.
