It's snowing here in Denver. Last night, Hubby and I packed up 6 fruitcakes to mail to family. Every year, my husband makes fruitcakes. It is a major production. Six pounds of fruit. A pound of butter. A pound of pecans. Fifteen eggs. Wine and brandy. I thought he and his brothers and father were the only ones on the planet who liked them, until I found out Grandmama LOVES fruitcake. So he started sending her one. Well, my father and brother heard about this most delicious fruitcake so now THEY get one every year. And it turns out our families aren't the only ones who adore fruitcake. There are the Fruitcake Sisters and the Fruitcake Anti-Defamation League (you have to scroll down). Who knew?
Anyway, between the snow and the fruitcake (which I enjoy from afar since it's loaded with sugar), I am definitely in the holiday spirit. So here's a little Christmas wish from the Pajama Gardener to you.

Hey, do I really say "eh"??? I don't, really, I don't!!!! Loved how her nose was so red in the cold!!!
As for the fruit cake..couldn't stand it as a kid but would eat it when all the other goodies were "gone"...now? I actually like it and plum pudding too...
Sherry, you know you say "eh" every once in a while! Even my grandmother from upper Michigan said it, lol! Fruitcake I can live without, but I'm counting down to gingerbread man day! Fruitcake lovers unite! I've always like it. My grandmother used to have a friend from church (old Mrs. Brooke, or was it, Olde Mrs. Brooke?) and every year she made Christmas puddings in recycled coffee cans. It's pretty much in the same family as fruitcake. They were the best, with hard sauce :)

I have to go against the flow and say ... that is six fruitcakes too many. ;-) Hehe (ducking).
Of course, the only variety I ever sampled was the petrified fruit in a box from K-mart or some other equally high tone place.

I think the all time best Christmas fruitcake I ever had was a Jamaican one someone I worked with used to make me every year...I always knew what it was..I could smell the rum before she hit the door!

Uh, well, I have to side with Julie. The only part of my mom's fruitcake (which, according to people in the know, was quite good) that I liked was the cake part. I'd pick all the fruit--those colors are NOT natural, by the way--and nuts out and just eat the cake crumbs.
I did like the rum sauce, though.
And, yeah hey, the video also sounds very Wisconsiny.
Ha, cute video. My grandparents also love a good fruitcake (bleck) but they prefer bread pudding (double bleck).
