10 ideas for peace

For the MLK holiday, my friend Susan Skog, author of Peace in Our Lifetime: Insights from the World's Peacemakers, has an article on Beliefnet called 10 Ways to Bring Peace to the World. Please check it out.

Peace to you.

These are wonderful thoughts and a beautiful list. Susan raises excellent points. If we cannot control and manage our own anger, if we are not at peace within ourselves, how can we possible work to achieve peace in the world? I love the looking at the positivity in the world (absolutely) and forgiveness..yes. Making it a promise to oneself to forgive even one person is a step towards peaceful possibilities. Thanks for sharing this link!

Oh, Carleen, you don't know how much I needed to read this article tonight of all nights. Thank you for linking to it. I am going to follow your lead and link to it on my blog as well.

"Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me."

All ten ideas were wonderful. One that I found to really resonate with me tonight was about looking for the good, not looking for divisiveness. Despite what the headlines would have us believe, there are so many good people in this world who are trying to do good things. I seem to connect with more of them every day.

Thank you for sharing this.

Thank you, Carleen. All wonderful and beautiful - and practical idea. Some really resonated with me...I thought..."yes, I can do better with this one..."

I needed to read this too. Thank you. And God bless Dr. King and his life and family. And all who would aspire to his dream...

Thanks, Carleen. Sometimes we just need to turn down the noise and tune into such peaceful reminders to keep ourselves--and those we love--going. K.

Thank you for sharing this. In all the commotion of my day with the kids home and the chaos of having to entertain them, I nearly forgot why we were celebrating this day. Thank you for reminding me.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I've linked to your posting on my blog. So many of the thoughts resonated with me, especially the one about forgiving one person, perhaps yourself, and the one about visualizing a world at peace.

Hi, I'm Dee said...

great article, thanks, carleen. i have been failing miserably at fasting this month. A number of churches throughout the country are fasting against complaining. when i read your entry i thought about this fast and my disappointing start of fasting from complaining. The peace in my home is so great when I, the women mother of the house not complain. Yet, I complain. :) thanks so much. can't wait to here about your novel. would love to have you talk about it at my blog next month.
