BEA

Got in after 1:30 a.m. so if I make any sense here I'll be lucky. Anyway. Last Thursday I headed for L.A. My flight was cancelled due to a mechanical problem, but luckily I got on another flight stand-by and was able to make it to the reception for African American booksellers only about 30 minutes late. This photo is of some One World/Ballantine authors: Bertie Bowman, author of the memoir Step by Step. Moi. Donald Welch, author of The Bachelorette Party, and Nikki Turner, author of Black Widow. I didn't get a chance to mingle beyond the table, but I did get to meet the lovely Donna Grant and Virginia Deberry, author of Gotta Keep on Tryin'. The next morning started off with chicken and waffles at Pann's, the restaurant where the robbery in Pulp Fiction was filmed. Think Jackson or Travolta actually touched the booth we sat in?!

Next, it was back to the convention center. Good to see this guy's publisher is rallying behind him. God knows he could use the sales.
Look what I found at the Crown booth, a poster for Tethered, and YES I scored a galley! (Amy, they were all given out, but one of the publicists found a hidden away copy for me.)

Just to show you a little of what the trade booths look like.

The Devious Book for Cats is the book I so wished I had written.

More from the trip later.

Thanks for sharing the piccys. (I didn't know about Pann's and I'm here in L.A. . .)

Wish I could have made it to BEA but it was not to be. Looking forward to hearing more about it.

Nice pictures and travelogue! I am just as impressed with the Pulp Fiction restaurant as I am with the BEA stuff :)))

Carleen, does your ARC of Amy's TETHERED have the original cover or the new poster picture one?

Amy, You're so welcome. It was fun to see a friend ready to launch.

Larramie, It has the old cover on it, but my galley had the old cover too. Seems almost par for the course.

WOW that Tethered cover jumps right out at you, doesn't it!! Gotta love Amy's reaction; gah! :) Glad you had a fun trip! K.

Way cool!

Hope your meeting went well, too...

On the galley matter: from what I've observed, it's highly unlikely that Crown will have new ones made--unless demand exceeds supply and they elect to print more... Let's hope!

Thanks for posting the pictures. I always get a kick of seeing someone I know signing books.

Hmmm . . . I wonder about that Devious Book of Cats . . . did my cat write it on the sly?

Demon Hunter, I think you'd like Amy's book. Check out her site:

Shauna, I hope your cat did write this book! It'd be great for somebody I know to make some $ from their cats!

Looks like a fabulous experience...and it's nice to see L.A. again so soon after leaving. I love your sense of humour by the way...why is it that those who don't need the advertisement have the biggest signs?!?!?!?
