Whoo hoo! I voted!!!!

Though it went better for me than it did for Homer, it was still a pain. Our polling place ran out of ballots for our precinct on the morning of the 1st day of early voting! Let me repeat that: they ran out of paper ballots within hours. And a guy from the county clerk's office announced it happened at every early polling place in the city! Way to be prepared, Denver!

We waited about a half of hour and were then told we could come back (after more ballots were printed, whenever that might be!) or we could vote on electronic voting machines. We voted using the machines, and I'm hoping that the decertification and recertification of our electronic voting machines means they worked correctly.

On the upside, after we worked up an appetite exercising our constitutional rights, we went across the street to a taqueria and had tacos and Mexican Coke (Did you know that Coca Cola made in Mexico tastes better and is probably healthier?). Viva la democracia!

Congratulations! I've got my mail-in ballot filled out and Scott is going to do his today. I was going to mail them in and then a volunteer from Progressive Future.org came by last night and he mentioned that he plans to drop his off downtown somewhere. I ended up loaning the poor guy an umbrella because it started pouring while he was on my doorstep. He seemed reluctant to move on to the next grim house in my VERY Republican neighborhood and told me how uptight and unfriendly most of the people whose doors he'd been knocking on had been (apparently the Obama signs in our yard were a bright spot in his evening). Now I'm seriously thinking we ought to drive downtown and drop our mail-in ballots off in a more Obama-friendly area. I'm developing a serious concern about someone screwing with my ballot now. Paranoia, or reasonable worry? I'm thinking it's more reasonable all the time.

Mexican Coke is the best....because it's made with sugar cane I believe. The other Coke products made there are better too...like Squirt.

Very cool--I can't vote early here.

I also need to try to find some of that Mexican Coke.

Yes, the Mexican Coke made with real sugar vs. high fructose corn syrup is fab!!

Congrats on getting your vote in. I mailed mine in (California gives you lots of options for early voting) last week. The lack of ballots in Denver bodes well for a good turnout for this election.

I don't trust the mail-ins - too paranoid about someone throwing away my vote.

Carlene, when you live in a state that's the laughing stock of the world for its voting process you don't get too many screws up ANYMORE since Floridians now have something to prove.

My early voting went smoothly - no surprise. And no more chads here - hanging or otherwise.

Can't wait till 11/5 and we can (hopefully) breathe a sigh of relief.
