Damn good book trailer

Though I still kinda can't believe it's come to authors doing videos, this is my kind of book promotion! Funny, soft-sell, AND actually makes me interested in her book.

Wow. I'm still not sold on the idea of book trailers--and I'm a reformed ad guy. Last I checked Meg seems to be selling tons of books so I'm not sure it was necessary, but hey, good for her either way!

Hey there, Jamie. Yeah...I'm not so sure about them either. Most of the ones I've seen haven't moved me. This one tells me enough about the writer's sense of humor and world view that I'm interested in her work. Anybody got any ideas about what DOES work?

I haven't seen a book trailer yet that enticed me to buy the book.

I've seen a few that were really good. Mostly thrillers, murder and action books that have trailers using action sequences or panning of photographs or even animation. I think it really depend on the genre of the book to see if a trailer would work.

Ha! That was great. The trailers don't really entice me to buy either though. But I agree, I'm intrigued by her sense of humor.

P.S. I tagged you for a meme at my place --

Now see, I think they're great. Most of the ones I've seen have a homemade feel and are far more interesting than the super polished book ads that run occasionally on the TV.

I might not rush out and buy the book, but I rarely do the first time one pops up on my radar. Unless I personally know the author, I usually have to hear a book mentioned 6-10 times before I generate enough interest to plunk down some cash.

These little ads are memorable. I know when I'm perusing my local seller, catching sight of these titles will definitely make me remember their trailer and probably pick up the book to at least read the blurb.
