News

The Go On Girl! Book Club is reading Orange Mint and Honey this month! The nationwide club has 300+ members in about 30 chapters. It is the largest African American women's book club in the country. I'm very honored they chose my book for one of their 12 for 2008.

If you're in or near Omaha, join me September 19-20 at the Downtown Omaha Litfest. On the 20th, I'll be on a panel about music and literature with Dana (D.E.) Rasso, Nik Fackler and Charles Bock (Beautiful Children).

Lifetime is just about to hire a screenwriter for Orange Mint. Stay tuned for an announcement.

And, in other news, IT'S DONE!! That is I'm done with Children of the Waters until copyedits. Yipee skipee! Should be hearing news about the cover soon.

Happy September! Have any news you want to share?

Hooray!!! Congratulations on getting your ms in to your editor. I don't know how you do it! You have fun in Omaha -- how exciting to be part of the literati!

My news is modest, but I'm still plugging along with my skeleton/raw hunk of clay and having a good time with it. :)

Hooray Carleen!!

I won't be in Omaha. Sigh. But that is closer to Georgia! You get to Alabama or Tennessee, I will come see ya:)

Congrats on all the good news!

Congratulations on all your news. A 300-member book club sounds incredible.

I have two pieces of good news to share. Sunday I finished the first draft of my second novel. My goal is do several rounds of revising and polishing and get it to my agent by mid-October. Also last week, an editor asked my agent for a full of my first novel—everyone, please keep your fingers crossed for me that she'll buy it.

Go Lisa Go! Not modest at all! Seriously, one baby step at a time is how you get to the end. Keep up the good work!

Ladylee, Before this is over I'm coming to the ATL just 4 U!

Judy, That's great news! Can't wait to hear about the sale!

Shauna, Way to go!!! That's wonderful! Definitely keeping everything crossed you get a sale (actually 2)!

Thanks Barrie!

Congratulations, Carleen! Oh, I'm sooo excited for you! And I cannot wait to see Orange Mint on the big screen. :-D

My news is that I turned in my movie script to a director/producer friend and my entertainment lawyer who are both trying to sell it. Even though I write movie scripts, writing novels is my first love, and I will begin my next novel shortly, but right now I'm planning my wedding. :-)

Good news abounds for you. Could not happen to a more deserving person. No doubt WATERS cover will be just as lovely as the one for ORANGE.

Hi Carleen! It's Jihan Coleman from Los Angeles. You came to our bookclub picnic. I'm so happy to hear about your new book. LOVE the prologue! Makes me want more. My news is that I finally made it onto the transplant list! I was just listed on Sept. 12th. So now we just wait for God to provide that special gift. I sent you an email but I can see how busy you've been. Anywho, my fundraising campaign has begun in earnest. The website is www.transplantfund.com. Just type in my last name and your readers will get all the details (oh! my given name is "Kim"). Thank you so much for wanting to do this for me. God is going to surely bless you with continued success. Much love, Jihan
